About Debra Rossi
I grew up thinking I was given the magic formula for life by my parents and teachers: with hard work, an education, marriage, and children, life would be great. I’d never thought about stuff like; happiness from within is the real deal, become what inspires you, or get to know yourself on a deeper level. So I got a formal education, married, had two children and began my career in Human Resource Management. My motivation to work in the HR field was knowing that I was always ‘good with people’ and cared about the development of employees. Working in this field translated into developing strong organizational and managerial skills, while providing support and assistance to others. It was my time of initiation with achieving bigger goals, learning the importance of effective communication skills and identifying and resolving problems.
The years went by and my life was full, but there was an underlying yearning for something more. The realization hit me that life is often about not knowing what the more is, but doing something anyway. This is the road to discovery. I had followed the traditional paths and had been so attentive to everyone and everything else that I had neglected my innermost self. It was time to be productive, time to accept there was a turn in the road with my work that would fill me on a deeper spiritual level. I discovered I didn’t have to look far… what inspired me was personal development, teaching, and motivating others; they were my special mores. These passions had always been there, but I had often ignored them.
My challenges, though not appreciated at the time, served a valuable purpose. Some of my biggest challenges were my busyness with life and limiting beliefs.
They became excuses and looked something like this:
- When my children get older, I’ll find my ideal job
- When my schedule is less hectic, I’ll step into my passions
- When I gain more experience, I’ll focus on public speaking
- When I get all my ducks in a row, I’ll start my life coaching business
I was living in the future, when things change, I will…
I longed to live in the present and change my thoughts with, I am… My need for inner fulfillment was the catalyst for transformation.
I had two choices —
1. Remain at the current beat with life.
2. Change the tempo and follow a new beat.
I made a choice to change the tempo and follow a new beat. It was time to get rid of the excuses, the circling and take action. My journey of self-discovery began from within. Instead of all the busyness, I had to get quiet and listen. I became very aware of my self-talk, began to discover my core needs and took action. With self-awareness, new knowledge and action steps I was able to uncover my authentic self. Personal Life Coaching is a natural alignment with my strengths, interests, and passions.
More About Debra
The big, as well as the small moments in my life are equally important — whether I’m coaching a client, being a mother to my children, rejuvenating my mind and body through meditation, doing yoga, cooking, hiking, dancing, connecting with friends, or sharing my experiences, strength and optimism with others.
I continue to participate in workshops on coaching and neuroscience to further my own growth and gain new tools for my clients. I speak to community groups, church groups, and organizations on topics about self-empowerment, living a conscious life, the power of thought and more. When inspiration struck I took action and wrote a children’s book on character education. A few years later I wrote a motivational book about discovering our power from within. My message is both bold and simple: be courageous, expand your horizons and embrace the moment.
